Inspired by the great conqueror Julius Caesar, this afternoon tea explores the exotic ingredients uncovered on his odyssey across Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.

 

Paying homage to his conquest through perilous seas and unchartered lands, our menu incorporates the mouthwatering flavour profiles of sweet Turkish figs, rich Madagascan cocoa, Amalfi Coast citrus and smokey North African spices.
 

Today, we honour Caesar’s victorious spirit with an unforgettable sensory feast.

TRADITIONAL SMOKED SALMON

“Set sail across uncharted seas”

 

Lightly cured, slowly smoked Scottish salmon served on a layer of freshly baked soda bread, drizzled with lemon horseradish cream and a sprinkling of fresh dill and roe.


BRIE DE MEAUX

“All rise in triumphant glory”

 

Rich, creamy, Brie de Meaux, layered between slices of hearty pumpernickel bread complemented by a sweet, tangy fig compote and nutty hazelnut crumb.

 

THE DAVID TOWER

“Tall and victorious like the great Caesar himself”

 

Creamy Hazelnut Cremeux and Spanish fig compote wrapped in a brandy snap casing embedded on a chocolate biscuit plinth.

 
 

FRESHLY BAKED SCONES

“A majestic moment of nostalgia”

 

Warm, buttery, gold-crusted, fruit and plain scones served with homemade jam, zesty lemon curd, rose petal and gold-leaf jelly and Devonshire clotted cream.
